This is my first attempt at a blog to keep parents and students updated on homework and things happening in our class each day. My goal is to post news and event every night after school (keep in mind that sometimes things pop up and I might not get to it, but the goal is to try!)
Things we worked on today:
*Exciting news for science! Our African Dwarf Frogs arrived. We had a short discussion about how they are different from regular frogs. More to come as we learn about different animals and their habitats.
*We wrote poems today about what colors and things we see in the fall. Our main goal while we were working on the poems was to use descriptive word choices for our colors. Instead of yellow we might say lemon, instead of red we might say scarlet, etc.
*In math we continued to work on counting money. Learning to round it and add it.
*We went to the computer lab to work on typing. If your kids would like to practice at home the web address is www.bbc.co.uk/schools/typing
*We worked on our daily five, and in our guided reading groups we are working on make predictions and filling out story maps (character, setting, plot)
Tonight your students will not have math homework. We spent two math session on lesson 1.11 as it was long and a bit difficult. They did the homework for this unit last night. However, if your child did not finish the poem that is coming home for them to finish. Please return that tomorrow.
Tomorrow we will have a practice off-site evacuation drill. Please make sure your students are dressed for the walk. We will be walking down to The Ridge Athletic Club.
