September 29th

Ahhhhh! Parents, in the rush to get your students out the door I forgot to put their homework on top of the pile of papers I was returning! I am very sorry. So for two nights in a row they do not have homework! I am very sorry! Sometimes the end of the day sneaks up on me before I have a chance to get everything done!

Tomorrow your students earned a party! The way the students earn a party is this: I have 50 marbles in the front of the classroom. As the students do a good job as a class and get compliments from other teachers they earn marbles, when they get all 50 marbles they earn a party. The party for this time is going to be watching Mulan...now you might be thinking WHAT?! We just read the story The Ballad of Mulan in our reading curriculum. The students will be doing a Venn Diagram comparing and contrasting the two stories. They also get to wear their pjs and we will be having popcorn and rootbeer floats.

Some students will not be participating in our party as a consequence for their actions. I have in my class checkbook. The way that it works is the students write their name and checks when they miss behave, if they write on the checkbook 5 times, then they do not get the party. The students have known this from the first day of school, and I did not start the checkbook until the 2 week of school. They are given warnings but this is a good way for them to learn. It will make them work that much harder for the party the next time we earn it.

I hope that clarifies what is happening tomorrow. Please email me if you have any questions.
