Tuesday, September 6th

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I sent home a letter on Friday with the students. If you didn't get it, here it is (which by the way, I read it and I made so many errors, I am very sorry!):

The project for the children at home for the next two weeks will be to construct a "diorama." A diorama is a three sided, open box (shoe box without a lid, a Kleenex box with the top cut off) the children are to show an adventure that they have been on in the box. The reason for this assignment is it's connection to stories we will be reading in our Houghton Mifflin reading resource that focus on adventures! For your student, their adventures may be going to Yellowstone, floating down a river, swimming, hiking, vacations, family gatherings, biking, or any activity with some movement and a story. They can use folded paper, clay, legos, cardboard, and then color in the backdrops to make a 3D adventure. They are to write a paragraph about the adventure depicted in the diorama. The students will give an oral presentation of their adventure. I would like to have the dioramas completed on turned in my Sept. 13.
