Monday, January 3rd

Welcome back after a very refreshing break (at least I hope you had a few days with the family!)

It was wonderful to see all of your students today! They had some many wonderful things to say and share about their break!

We started out the morning by sharing about our breaks, and then writing goals for 2011.

In math we picked right up on place value. We will be wrapping up the unit at the end of the week. The homework tonight compares values of number in the tenths and hundredths. Work with your students, let me know if they get frustrated.

In Science today we put together a folder and book for our new unit on Rocks and Minerals. Tonight I will be making "mock rocks" that the students will observe and break apart in the up coming lessons.

The spelling words this week work on the sound of er-spelled er, ir, or, ur, ar (there is one that does not belong "north" does not fit the sound as it say or not er)

A couple of things that will be coming up for you to have the first heads up:
1. We will be doing a book project on a chapter book of the students choosing. We will begin this next week. The reading can be done at school and at home and the project will be due beginning of February.
2. We will be doing a research project on Lizards. Details will come home on Thursday in the folder.

Thanks!
