Hi Parents,
Last night got away from me. I am sorry I did not post about the math homework last night.
First, let me mention, this is the first that your students have been exposed to the tenths and hundredths place value. By third grade they need to be able to read and write whole number up to the millions place value. The tenths and hundredths is a developing concepts but one that they are beginning to understanding. I made the homework for tonight. The first part asks the students to write the written number in decimal form. The second part asks them to compare numbers to tell which is greater. The way that I taught this in class is by looking at each place value moving from left to right. Start with the ones, if they are the same then move to the tenths and so on. If they tenths are different then the students should be able to determine which is great by look at that place value.
This week we have been working on antonyms and synonyms. We did a few activities with them and the students are doing an excellent job. Find antonyms was easier to catch on to than the synonyms but they are understanding both now.
In reading this week we are looking at the genre folktales. They are really enjoying them!
