Wednesday October 13th

Hi Parents,

I am sorry I did not have a chance to write last night. I had an appointment directly following our school day.

A look at our day today.

We started our first day of math rotations. We will be doing math rotations every Wednesday. The students rotate for 20 minute rotations between small group instruction with me, workbook time (with a parent volunteer), math computer game and an Everyday Math game. It keeps the students moving and working on a variety of skills and gives me a chance to have small group instruction with students. I think your students enjoyed it very much!

We worked on the writing step of Editing and Revising today. Tomorrow your students should write their final draft of their "How to Eat An Oreo."

We worked on typing and I showed your students a new website. If you search "Funbrain math baseball" there is a neat game that helps students work on their math facts.

The daily 5 went well.

One thing I am really trying to drive home with the class is year is being nice to one another. Please encourage your students to be kind to all of their classmates and ask them if that is going well at school. Please teach them and help them to know that in their lives, people will say mean things. It doesn't make it right but saying mean things back is not the right solution. We are working on that here, please encourage them at home.
